The people of the Philippines need our help. In addition to as many as 10,000 deaths, 11.3 million people have been affected by Typhoon Haiyan, 673,000 people are homeless, and 3720 schools are closed. UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief, is already working to provide aid and assistance. The best way to help is with your financial donations. Covenant Church: We welcome, we nurture, we serve.
Here you’ll find information about who we are, what we believe, what we offer, and how we can help you grow in God’s love. Covenant offers Bible based praise, worship, and activities for the whole family.
We invite you to join us for worship any Sunday morning, or just to hang out with some authentic people from the Lancaster area. Our goal is to share God’s love with anyone, anywhere. Covenant is a great place to connect with God and a real Christian family!
Who We Are
Covenant United Methodist Church was founded in 1884 and has been committed to working in Lancaster City since its founding. Our mission as part of the global church is to know Jesus and work to show His love and kindness to the world. We actively work with the local community through tutoring programs for local school children from Fulton Elementary School, food programs, community dinners, and other activities.
At Covenant, you will find normal people. Everyone at Covenant is a sinner and falls short of God’s glory – that is why we are here. We are all learning, worshiping, and celebrating God’s love together, and you are most welcome to join us.
We believe that you cannot make someone believe, but only show them why we love God. God loves all of us regardless of the color of our skin, where we come from, what we look like, and no matter what we’ve done – this is why we do what we do.
What We Believe
- Relevant Worship – Touching God’s heart as we celebrate God’s presence and listen to God’s voice
- Prayer – Seeking intimacy with God for life, direction, and empowerment
- Spiritual Growth – Helping people to be more like Jesus
- Outreach – Extending God’s Love and hope by sharing Jesus with others
- The Holy Spirit – Hungering for the Holy Spirit to change lives spiritually, emotionally and physically
- Friendship – Building loving, real, and fun relationships
- Service – Touching lives, meeting needs, and relieving suffering, especially for the oppressed
We believe that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us through His life, teachings, death, and finally His resurrection. We believe that God has said that all men are to be saved and that it is our job as told to us by Jesus in His last words to the disciples to go into the world and make disciples of all people. We do this by showing people what God has done for us and how He has loved us – we show them why we love Him.
